BANGKA - The COVID-19 Task Force of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, stated that two COVID-19 patients in the area died at a referral hospital.

"Two patients confirmed positive for COVID-19 who died, namely the initials LKD (84) male from Sungailiat District and S (67) male from Bakam District", Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force for Bangka Regency, Boy Yandra, in Sungailiat on Wednesday 23 February.

With the addition of two COVID-19 patients who died, he said, the total confirmed positive COVID-19 patients who died since the Coronavirus variant was discovered in Bangka Regency for two years were 367 people spread over eight sub-districts.

In Sungailiat District, 118 COVID-19 patients died, 33 in Riau Silip, nine in Puding Besar, 34 in Pemali, and 22 in Merawang.

In West Mendo District, 24 COVID-19 patients died, 118 people in Belinyu District and nine people in Bakam District.

"The deaths of COVID-19 patients generally have comorbidities, so the medical team failed to rescue them", he said.

Boy Yandra asked all levels of society in his area, without exception, to be disciplined in implementing health procedures as an effective step to prevent transmission of the Coronavirus variant.

"In addition to being required to implement health procedures, people in all age groups who have not received the vaccine, especially the first dose, should immediately register at the nearest outlet", said Boy Yandra.
