SITUBONDO - Six rare animals have been released into the Baluran National Park, Situbondo, East Java. The animal was confiscated from residents.

Secretary of the Directorate General of KSDAE Suharyono explained, the 6 animals released were 2 forest cats with the Latin name Prionailurus Bengalensis, 2 Pangolins Sweet Javanica, 1 Hedgehog Histrix Javanica and 1 green peacock.

"With an area of more than 35,000 hectares, this conservation forest can increase the population of endangered animals," said Suharyono.

Before being released into the wild, animals undergo rehabilitation carried out by the BKSDA.

"The Jakarta BKSDA and the Directorate General of KSDAE chose the location of Baluran National Park as a place for this rare animal to live. After being released into the wild, these six wild animals went straight into the forest," he said.

This release, continued Suharyono, is an effort to preserve endangered animals in the wild and maintain a balanced food chain in the wild.
