Health Worker In Cianjur Dies Of COVID-19

CIANJUR - A health worker in Cianjur, West Java, died after undergoing intensive treatment at the Cianjur Hospital due to being positive for COVID-19, while dozens of other health workers are still undergoing independent isolation with conditions continuing to improve.

The spokesperson for the Cianjur COVID-19 Information and Coordination Center, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said the health workers who died after being tested positive for COVID-19 were based on the results of a quick test and PCR swab.

"The health worker who served at the Cianjur Hospital, died while undergoing intensive care at the hospital because he had a history of comorbidities. This is the first health worker who died of COVID-19, after several months of no cases", he said in Cianjur Tuesday, February 22.

He explained, during the last two months 57 health workers were exposed to COVID-19, 27 of them have been declared cured and 30 others are still undergoing independent isolation and are centered in Vila Bumi Ciherang with conditions continuing to improve.

Most of those who were exposed had received the third dose of vaccination, so it wasn't too bad when they were attacked. They were even asked to vaccinate the fourth dose, to increase their immunity from dangerous viruses because they met a lot of people and patients.

"We ask the hospital or public health center management to make good shift arrangements, to minimize fatigue for health workers so that they can maintain their immune system and are not susceptible to dangerous viruses", he said.

Although many health workers were exposed in several hospitals and health centers, he said, it did not hinder health services for residents, especially for those who wanted to get vaccinated. Hospitals and public health centers still provide services but with strict procedures.

"We urge health workers to use personal protective equipment while on duty and to maintain health procedures when returning home, to avoid dangerous viruses, including the Omicron variant", he said.
