JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that private parties participating in the auction in North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU) must hand over the money to the inactive PPU Regent Abdul Gafur Mas'ud. The award was allegedly a condition for winning the project.

This allegation was investigated by examining a witness, namely the Head of the Sub-Division for the Procurement of Goods and Services for the PBJ (ULP) Section of PPU Regency, Abdul Halim. The examination was carried out on Monday, February 21 yesterday.

"The investigative team has examined witnesses for the suspect AGM et al," said Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri in a written statement, Tuesday, February 22.

From Abdul Halim, continued Ali, investigators explored several other allegations. Including, regarding the arrangement of the winner of the tender for the tender in PPU Regency which was carried out by Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

"The person concerned was present and his knowledge was explored, among others, related to the tender process for the auction of various projects in the Regency at PPU where it is suspected that the suspect AGM had an active role in determining the winner of the tender and the requirements for the provision of a fee in the form of money for the appointment of the winner," he said.

As previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission appointed Abdul Gafur with the Plt Secretary of North Penajam Paser Regency, Mulyadi; Head of Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of North Penajam Paser Regency Edi Hasmoro; and Head of the North Penajam Paser District Education, Youth and Sports Office, Jusman, and the Balikpapan Democratic Party DPC General Treasurer, Nur Afifah Balqis as bribe recipients.
