SURABAYA - PT PAL Indonesia has officially handed over the KRI Cakra-401 submarine, which has completed its overhaul and was declared successful at the Commodore Inspection stage on November 22, 2021, to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan).

PT PAL Indonesia CEO Kaharuddin Djenod said the handover to the Ministry of Defense was represented by the Director General of Defense of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Admiral TNI Bambang Irwanto at the PIP Building on the 4th floor of Surabaya, and was attended by the ranks of the PAL BoD and BoC, stakeholders from the Navy Headquarters and Koarmada II.

With the success of this overhaul, he said, PT PAL Indonesia has at least mastered 65 percent of the new submarine development process, from design to mastery of technology.

The Director General of Defense of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Admiral TNI Bambang Irwanto said that the overhaul carried out at PT PAL was not only valuable from an economic aspect, but also from a defense aspect.
