JAKARTA - The government will soon pay the arrears of claims for hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients in 2021, worth IDR 25 trillion.

The news was conveyed by the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin. He said the government had previously paid hospital claims worth IDR62.68 trillion.

However, there are still IDR25 trillion in arrears that have not been paid because the budget was not sufficient at that time.

"Are there any (budget, red) that have not been paid yet? There is still IDR 25 trillion for the 2021 hospital bill. Of this IDR 25 trillion, some have finished clearing from the BPJS, now that the year has passed we are in the process of going to BPKP later we will seek approval from the Ministry of Finance", said Budi in a press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Monday, February 21.

"We have collaborated with the Ministry of Finance. We will pay the IDR 25 trillion above the IDR62 trillion one soon", he added.

Meanwhile, for incentives for health workers, amounting to IDR 10 trillion, the Minister of Health emphasized that the government would immediately pay it.

"Indeed, in December, I know that the budget cannot be paid in that month because we have to wait for the book to close and we will pay it starting this year", he said.

The Minister of Health said the government had allocated a budget of IDR 12 trillion for health workers dealing with COVID-19 this year. So, it is hoped that the budget can pay for their incentives.

"So last year, our health worker incentive was IDR 10 trillion from January to November, except for the December one which will be paid this year", he concluded.
