JAKARTA - Mayor Bobby Nasution explained that what made the number of confirmed COVID-19 in Medan City so high was contributed by travelers.

"From the results of our tracing, generally those who are confirmed to be COVID-19 are travelers. For that we continue to strengthen 3T," said Bobby in Medan, Thursday, February 18, as reported by Antara.

Until now, 65 of the 2.001 neighborhoods in Medan City are currently conducting environmental isolation in coordination with the local District COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

The report from the Medan City COVID-19 Task Force, Wednesday (16/2), stated that there were 53.556 confirmed cases of COVID-19, an increase of 830 new cases compared to Tuesday (15/2).

Of the total 53.556 cases, 48.125 were declared cured, 4.510 were still being treated and 921 died.

"We made an application to find out which environment is in isolation. Through this application, real conditions can be recorded in the area," said President Joko Widodo's son-in-law.

The mayor also admitted that the implementation of micro-community activity restrictions (PPKM) and routine judicial operations are part of the Medan City Government's efforts to overcome the spread of COVID-19.

As is known, the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs No. 11/2022 on February 14, 2022, is valid from February 15 until the next month and the status of PPKM in Medan City is Level 3 from Level 1.

"We continue to encourage the acceleration of vaccination in order to establish 'herd immunity' in the community in suppressing the spread of COVID-19 so that it does not spread," said the Mayor.
