National Police Chief Reminds The Importance Of Vaccination-Prokes To Prevent Omicron

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reminded the importance of vaccination and health protocol discipline (prokes) to prevent transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

"Why is the vaccination being carried out because the current Omicron variant has increased far above the Delta variant, so steps and strategies must be taken to deal with this variant," said Sigit, quoted by Antara from a written statement, Wednesday, February 16.

This message was conveyed by Sigit while reviewing the implementation of simultaneous vaccinations at the Discovery Mall, Bali, as well as virtually monitoring the implementation of simultaneous vaccinations at 4,831 points in 34 provinces in Indonesia.

According to him, the acceleration of vaccination is not only for doses one and two, but the third dose or known as a booster vaccine (booster).

The National Police Chief explained that vaccinations and disciplined health protocols were carried out so that people could continue to carry out daily activities, including moving the wheels of the economy.

Booster vaccines are required for people who have received the second dose of vaccine and have passed the six-month deadline.

Sigit reminded the acceleration of vaccination for vulnerable groups such as the elderly (elderly) because they are vulnerable to being exposed to COVID-19.

Accelerating vaccination is one strategy to prevent a spike in cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. In addition, according to Sigit, another effort is to check the readiness of the hospital, especially the ICU room.

"We check the readiness of the hospital, especially the ICU room so that when someone is treated, the community can recover," said Sigit.

Sigit asked for the readiness of a centralized isolation place (Isoter) to treat people with mild symptoms whose homes do not meet the requirements for self-isolation.

The National Police Chief appealed to people who have not been vaccinated to get vaccinated immediately. Then people who have been vaccinated twice should come to vaccine outlets to get a booster.

"So that immunity can really be maintained. Then wearing a mask, of course, is one of the priorities that we always remind, because this is to keep it protected from transmission of the Omiicron variant," said the former Police Criminal Investigation Officer.

General Sigit added that when people's immunity is maintained, they can carry out activities according to health protocols. Community activities contribute to economic growth.

"That way, economic growth and maintaining public health can be implemented together. So, of course, we always remind those who haven't been vaccinated and keep the procedure on wearing masks," said Sigit.
