COVID-19 Cases In DKI Jakarta Decreasing, Ministry Of Health: Is It Because Of A Decline Or Decreased Testing?

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has not been able to conclude the decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta in the last few days due to the sloping pandemic situation.

"COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta have exceeded the peak of the Delta period (July-August 2021) of around 14,000 cases. Yesterday (Omicron period, ed.) the number reached 15,825 cases. But there has been a decline in the last two days", said the Secretary to the Director-General of Public Health of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, in a virtual press conference attended by Zoom in Jakarta, Wednesday 16 February.

The Ministry of Health is still monitoring the development of cases to be able to determine the trigger for the decline in the number of active COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta.

"Is it true that there is a decline or is it due to a slight decline in testing in DKI Jakarta", she said quoted from Antara.

According to her, the pattern of reporting cases from the DKI Jakarta government is still fluctuating.

"There is additional data that has not been reported on last Saturday and Sunday, the figures are still very volatile", she said.

Nadia, who is also the Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, said that monitoring of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in DKI Jakarta was carried out through real-time reporting of case data.

He reported that the decline in COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta is currently occurring in almost all administrative city areas.

"Although the decline varies, there are four to seven days of decline. We see there is a decrease in Omicron cases. But we must remain vigilant, the peak level of cases depends on detection, then our health protocol", she said.
