JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) has asked the Attorney General's Office (AGO) to take preventative and deterrence measures against a foreign citizen (WNA) named Thomas Van Der Heyden, related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of the Slot Orbit Satellite 123 degrees Longitude. Timur (BT) at the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan). "Thomas Van Der Heyden is an expert consultant appointed by PT DNK and/or the Ministry of Defense in the procurement and lease of the Ministry of Defense satellites (years) 2015-2020, which is currently under investigation by Jampidsus. (Young Attorney General for Special Crimes) AGO," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in a written statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 15.

MAKI received information regarding the name Thomas Van Der Heyden after reading the material for the resistance lawsuit submitted by the Ministry of Defense at the Central Jakarta District Court, with case register Number 64/Pdt.G/2022/PN JKT.PST.

The lawsuit was filed by the Ministry of Defense to overturn the decision of the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Arbitration, which defeated the Ministry of Defense with a fine of hundreds of billions of rupiah.

"MAKI has searched for the name of Thomas Van Der Heyden, a foreign national, with suspicion of having multiple identities; even suspected of having more than two identities," he explained.

Thomas is suspected of arranging or facilitating parties involved with the Ministry of Defense's satellite procurement and lease activities.

According to Boyamin, apart from being an expert at PT DNK and/or the Ministry of Defense, Thomas is also listed as a foreigner who carries out certain missions for foreign interests.

"This should be watched out for and needs to be investigated more deeply, in order to reveal all its activities in order to maintain the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia," he added.

Boyamin also said that Thomas is currently suspected of having left Indonesia, so that it will complicate the process of examining him at the AGO.

"For this reason, MAKI asks the Attorney General's Office to immediately block Thomas Van Der Heyden, to ensure an arrest is made if Thomas Van Der Heyden enters Indonesian territory," he said.

If evidence is found of Thomas' involvement in the alleged corruption in the Ministry of Defense's satellite lease, the AGO must immediately issue a wanted list (DPO) and cooperate with Interpol to issue a Red Notice. .
