CT Conglomerate's Younger Brother, Chairal Tanjung, Is Questioned By The Attorney General's Office Regarding The Garuda Corruption Case

JAKARTA - Investigators of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Attorney General's Office examined Chairal Tanjung (CT) as a witness in the investigation into the alleged corruption case of leasing aircraft to PT Garuda Indonesia in 2011-2021, Monday, February 14.

"CT as the Commissioner of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) is being investigated regarding the mechanism for the procurement of aircraft," said the Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at the Attorney General's Office, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, in a written statement.

In addition to examining Chairal Tanjung who is also Chairul Tanjung's younger brother, investigators also examined four other witnesses, namely Sigit Muhartono as Cargo Director of PT Garuda Indonesia in 2017, I Wayan Susena as Technical Director in 2017.

Then, Linggasari Suharso as Director of Human Resources and General Affairs in 2017 and Capten Triyanto Moeharsono as VP Operation Planning and Control in 2009. The four witnesses were examined the same as Chairal, regarding the mechanism for aircraft procurement.

"The examination of witnesses is carried out to provide information for the purpose of investigating a criminal case that he heard, saw and experienced in order to find legal facts about the corruption that occurred," said Leonard.

The Attorney General's Office has raised the status of the alleged corruption case of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, to the general investigation stage on Wednesday (19/1).

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said that the investigation would progress, not only regarding the ATR 72-600, but also related to the procurement of Bombardier, Airbus, Boeing, and Rolls Royce.
