DIY Provincial Government Functions Mutiara Hotel As A Place For Isolation Of COVID-19 Patients

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Government has enabled Mutiara 2 Hotel in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta City as a centralized isolation place following the surge in COVID-19 cases in this area.

Sigit Alifianto, Head of the Social Protection and Social Security Division of the DIY Social Security Agency, said that the hotel has functioned as a place to isolate residents exposed to COVID-19 since Saturday, 12 February afternoon.

"As of last night, we have served 63 (COVID-19, ed.) survivors", he said, quoted by Antara on Monday, February 14.

He explained that the centralized isolation place with a capacity of 112 beds is reserved for residents who do not have a DIY ID card so they cannot be accommodated by isolation places in districts/cities.

They include tourists, employees who are on duty, or students from outside the region studying in DIY.

"Or even those who live with their families in DI Yogyakarta", said Sigit.

The residents of the isolation place, he said, received medicines, vitamins, toiletries, medical services, telemedicine, and logistics free of charge.

He said only patients with mild or no symptoms (OTG) were allowed to be isolated in the hotel.

Since its opening, Sigit said the patients who inhabit the hotel are patients aged 16-50 years and pregnant women.

Because the location is in the Malioboro area, Sigit has asked security officers not to let tourists or pedestrians stop in front of the hotel.

"With the COVID-19 shelter there, it can actually give a 'warning' to the public to maintain strict procedures", he said.

Based on data from the DI Yogyakarta Regional Government, the addition of daily COVID-19 cases in DIY has reached more than 1,000 cases per day, starting from February 12, 2022, which recorded 1,065 cases, and February 13 as many as 1,010 cases.
