JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya held a street race logo design competition as part of the program in order to facilitate street racing sports fans in Jakarta and its surroundings.

"We want to open a logo design competition that is collective in nature. The logo reads 'Street Race Polda Metro Jaya'," said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran on the official Instagram account @kapoldametrojaya quoted by Antara, Monday, February 14.

The technical implementation of the competition is quite simple. Competition enthusiasts simply upload their logo designs on their respective Instagram accounts.

"Please upload it on their respective Instagram accounts. On March 1, 2022, we will look for the best and we will vote together. 'Upload' with the hashtag #logoBalapPMJ is captioned," said Fadil.

Polda Metro Jaya was originally scheduled to hold a street race in February 2022 at Central Park Meikarta, Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, West Java. However, this activity had to be postponed due to the soaring number of COVID-19 cases.

Related to this, Fadil said, his party will use the time to improve some technical implementation of street racing.

"When the number of COVID-19 rises, we have to be a little patient. We can use the time we have to improve things that are technical in nature and improve existing facilities," he said.

Previously, the Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombes Gidion Arif Setyawan, said that the official street race event which was planned to be held in his jurisdiction at the end of February was postponed until an undetermined time limit.

"Like what Mr. Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya (Kombes Pol Sambodo Purnomo Yogo) said that the official street race is still waiting for the right time. I can't say for sure how long it will be postponed," said Setyawan.

Kombes Gidion said the spike in COVID-19 cases was a major factor in the postponement of the event, which was intended to reduce illegal racing on the streets.

His party is still coordinating to finalize the concept of street racing with the community of illegal racing activists while waiting for the development of the COVID-19 case.

"We are still in communication while waiting for the decision from the Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya as the initiator of the official street race event," he said.
