Police Prisoners Surrender After Walking For 3 Months

JAMBI - Another prisoner of the Batanghari Police, Jambi, who escaped from his cell at the Special Child Development Institute (LPKA) on November 15, 2021, Joko Pornomo, surrendered accompanied by his family. Joko is a fugitive who for almost three months fled on foot to Bayung Lincir, South Sumatra.

Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) Jambi Regional Police Kombes Kaswandi Irwan, said that of the 24 detainees who escaped from LPKA last November, now 23 prisoners who have returned have surrendered and have been arrested by police officers in the field.

Now there is only one detainee, namely Mat Tarmajin (24) who has not been arrested and is expected to surrender.

"I hope that the prisoner on behalf of Mat Tarmajin surrenders himself to the police station," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 14.

The prisoner on behalf of Joko, after being on the run for approximately three months, fled on foot to Bayung Lincir, finally surrendered on Saturday, February 12, at around 11.00 WIB, accompanied by his family.

The process of Joko's surrender by his family after they contacted a member of the Batanghari Police for instructions and was then directed to come directly to the Batanghari Police and from the results of the examination it was found that Joko had been hiding in a resident's garden after escaping from LPKA Muarabulian.

Then on foot, Joko headed to the Bajubang area, Batanghari Regency and at Simpang Bajubang, Joko tried to ask for help by stopping the passing vehicle and he got a truck ride to Panerokan Village, Batanghari Regency.

"From Panerokan, he then continued on foot to Bunut Village, Sungaibahar District, Muarajambi Regency and continued to Bayung Lencir, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province," said Kombes Kaswandi.

"On foot, it took him approximately two months to arrive at Bayung Lencir and arrived at Bayung Lencir on February 11, 2022. He then tried to contact his sibling by borrowing the cellphone of the person he met and after contacting his relative asked to be picked up and asked to help hand over themselves to the Batanghari Police,” said Kaswandi.

On February 12, 2022, Joko was picked up by his family and then taken to the Batanghari Police to surrender.

"Currently there is still one prisoner in the name of Mat Tarmajin who we are still looking for," continued Kaswandi.
