JAKARTA - Two men with the initials FW (28) and J (43), are threatened with 20 years in prison for allegedly circulating hundreds of grams of methamphetamine. FW and J are known residents of Kendari City.

Director of Drug Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Kombes Pol Muhammad Eka Faturrahman, quoted from Antara, Sunday, February 13, said that the two suspects were arrested by the Narcotics Satres of the Kendari Police since Wednesday, February 9, on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Labibia Village, Mandonga District, Kendari.

"The two suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of a death penalty or life imprisonment, or a minimum imprisonment of five years and a maximum of 20 years," said Eka.

Eka said that from the arrest of the two suspects, the police confiscated evidence of 167.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

"In addition, five empty clear plastic clips, three spoons of methamphetamine, one digital scale, one press, one bong (shabu suction device), one pyrex, and a cellphone," he said again.

Eka explained that the arrest of the suspect was carried out by the Narcotics Investigation Unit Investigation Team of the Kendari Police, led directly by the Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Kendari Police, Iptu Astaman Rifaldy Saputra. The arrest was based on an investigation of information from residents about the existence of illicit narcotics trafficking on Jalan Imam Bonjol.

"Then the team conducted an investigation. It is known that the targets named FW and J are people who act as distributors or couriers," he said.

When the two perpetrators were searched by the police, five sachets of methamphetamine weighing 167.40 grams were found in the suspect's room, along with other evidence.

To the police, the two suspects admitted to getting crystal methamphetamine from someone in Kendari City. Officers immediately pursued the supplier.
