Smuggling 8.2 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine At Juwata Airport, Tarakan Foiled

TARAKAN - Joint officers led by Military District Commander 0907/Tarakan managed to secure 8.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine at Juwata Tarakan International Airport, North Kalimantan.

"Today we handed over evidence (meth) and the suspect from Military District Commander 0907/Tarakan to Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Kalimantan", said Commander of Military District Commander 0907/Tarakan, Inf. Col. Reza Fajar Lesmana, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 11.

He said joint officers managed to secure as many as eight packs of white crystalline powder suspected of having methamphetamine weighing 8,238 grams or more than 8 kilograms.

The illicit goods were secured from a person with the initials RI, and it is suspected that they would be taken out of Tarakan through the airport.

Reza said that for a more complete chronology of disclosure of this case, it would be officially submitted by the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Kalimantan.

The Commander of Military District Commander emphasized that although the initial information on the disclosure of this case was from the Intel of Military District Commander 0907/Tarakan, the arrests were made by a joint team.

"This arrest did not necessarily come from Military District Commander personnel alone, but there was personnel from the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Kalimantan, the Police, Anang Busra Air Base, and Avsec at Juwata Tarakan Airport", said Reza.

The evidence for suspected methamphetamine was wrapped in plastic wrap for Chinese tea, then wrapped again in clear plastic that said very good, and packed in a cardboard box.

In addition to evidence of eight packs of suspected methamphetamine, officers also secured plane tickets, cash, and cell phones.

"So this item is actually already in the trunk, but later the chronology will be submitted by the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Kalimantan for flights on the Tarakan - Makassar - Palu route using the Lion Air airline", said Reza.

The submission of evidence and RI at Military District Command Headquarters 0907/ Tarakan was attended by the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of North Kalimantan, Tarakan Police, and Juwata Airport Tarakan.
