JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said a landslide resulted in serious injuries to one resident from Parikesit Village, Kejajar District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java.

The landslide was triggered by unstable soil conditions and heavy rain around the Dieng mountain area.

"The Wonosobo Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reports that residents who suffered serious injuries have been evacuated by a joint team," said Abdul Muhari, Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 10.

In addition to the injured victims, the local BPBD noted that 1 family was affected and 1 house was heavily damaged as a result of this incident. While the damage to physical facilities, as many as 8 meters of the road was covered by landslide material and 1 point of irrigation facilities was affected.

There are also affected locations at several points, namely in Parikesit Village, Kalilembu Village and Sikunang Village which are located in Kejajar District.

In response to this incident, joint officers from BPBD, TNI, Polri, Basarnas, related agencies, several volunteer organizations and residents also cleaned up landslide material at three points on the affected roads. BPBD officers and related agencies monitor field conditions to anticipate potential follow-up hazards.

Referring to information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) regarding the potential areas for soil movement in February 2022 in the Wonosobo Regency area, there are 15 sub-districts that have medium to high potential, including Garung, Kalibawang, Kalikajar, Kaliwiro, Kejajar, Kepil, Kertek. , Leksono, Mojotengah, Sapuran, Selomerto, Sukoharjo, Wadaslintang, Watumalang, and Wonosobo.

"Areas that have medium potential, namely in this zone, soil movement can occur if the rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, escarpments, road cliffs or if the slopes are disturbed," said Abdul.

Meanwhile, areas that have high potential if rainfall is above normal, and old soil movements can be active again. Therefore, it is hoped that the community can increase their awareness and preparedness in dealing with potential hydrometeorological hazards.
