Due To The High Number Of COVID-19, The Solo City Government Commemorates The Anniversary In A Simple Way, Followed By 100 People

SURAKARTA - The Solo City Government will commemorate its birthday (HUT) on February 17, 2022 in a simple way considering that COVID-19 cases are still occurring in the area.

"The city's anniversary will have a limited ceremony, not many participants. In addition, there will also be entertainment, dances, and soldiers will be there," said Head of the Solo City Culture and Tourism Office Aryo Widyandoko in Solo, Antara, Tuesday, February 8.

The ceremony, he said, would be held at the Surakarta City Hall. In addition, there will be a Boyong Kedaton carnival which this year's route will be shortened.

He said that the carnival route was usually from the Kartasura Palace to the Surakarta Palace. This year it was shortened from Vastenburg Fort to Surakarta City Hall.

"Or later it will be shorter from the BI office to the city hall. This is just a (small) climen, but it's still there," he said.

Referring to the number of participants in the carnival, he said that usually it reaches 700 people. This time it will only be followed by less than 100 people. The appointment of participants is submitted by the organizing committee.

"What is certain is that it is strictly limited. If this is still not good, yes, we will shorten it again and reduce the number of participants," he said.

In addition, there will also be a jenang festival like in previous years. However, the jenang festival will be held on February 12, 2022. "Together with the Bregodo soldiers," he said.

Regarding the possibility of the presence of national figures on the anniversary, he said that so far no information has been received.

"National figures don't know, but you don't have to. This is the thought of COVID-19, we also have a scheme on February 17 so that there are no crowds," he said.
