JAKARTA - Susi Air said that their obligation to pay the hangar rental fee for Colonel RA Bessing Malinau Airport has been completed. In fact, the last payment was made on January 27 last.

This was conveyed by Susi Air's attorney, Donal Fariz to refute the issue of arrears in payments made by the pioneering airline which caused them to be expelled by the Malinau Regional Government.

"Since 2012 we have rented the hangar, starting at a price of Rp. 15.3 million, all of which have been paid appropriately and well by Susi Air. All obligations plus fines," Donal said at a press conference held online, Friday, February 4.

From that payment, Donal said that Susi Air had even contributed to providing income to local governments of around Rp. 2.9 billion.

"That's a nominal figure which in real terms does not include the calculation of fines for delays that did occur," he said.

He did not deny that there were several delays in payments, especially in 2020 and 2021. The reason is that Susi Air is not operating normally.

"As a result, there was a delay in payment and this is the last payment we made even though it was confirmed that Susi Air had left the city," he said while showing the receipt for the last payment made at the end of January.

In the receipt, Susi Air made payments for the December 2021 period along with a fine of Rp. 93 million.

"So we still pay our obligations and we also pay off with the total fine as a whole," he said.

"Even if it is confirmed that Susi Air is out of the hangar, we still have to settle our obligations to the state, in this case to the local government. We pay no less and even the principal and fines for the hangar rental for the December period plus the fine that is our obligation," concluded Donal.
