JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran said the street race would be postponed due to the spike in COVID-19 cases. This moment will be used to improve the supporting facilities for the street race event, one of which is the circuit.

"This race vacuum is then filled by fixing the track circuit that will be used later," said Inspector General Fadil to reporters, Friday, February 4.

The improvement of the facilities, said Fadil, aims to improve the safety and comfort of the participants. So, the street race event will get better.

"Later on, we will repair infrastructure related to security and comfort, including lighting at night," he concluded.

So far, there are 5 locations that will be used as the location for the street race later. Starting from the BSD, Cikarang, Meikarta, Bekasi City, and Ancol areas. The Directorate of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya decided to postpone the second street race. The reason is that the spread of the COVID-19 variant, Omicron, is going crazy.

"However, the implementation will wait for the right time because Omicron is high," said Traffic Director of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo.

With the increasing spread of COVID-19, Sambodo is not sure when the street race event will be held. Although, at the beginning the event was planned to be held in mid-February 2022.

"Yes, we will postpone it until we wait for the right time. We should have played in mid-February," said Sambodo.
