The Regent Of Langkat Will Be Examined By Komnas HAM Regarding Human Confinement Next Week

JAKARTA - The Regent of Langkat, who has not published a Waring Wind Plan, will be examined regarding the human cages found in his house by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM). This examination was facilitated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"The inquiry by Komnas HAM on the TRP is scheduled for next week," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Ali Fikri told reporters, Wednesday, February 2.

Ali said that his party facilitated the examination to be held. The reason is that Terbit is currently a KPK suspect related to allegations of bribery in infrastructure procurement in Langkat Regency.

"The Komnas HAM has coordinated with the KPK regarding the plan to request information and information from the Langkat Regent regarding the alleged existence of a human cage in his private home," he said.

"Furthermore, the KPK welcomes and will facilitate these activities," Ali added.

He said the inspection activities carried out by Komnas HAM would not interfere with the performance of the institution. It is confirmed that the investigation process will continue to complete the alleged bribery received by Terbit.

"We ensure that this agenda does not interfere with the ongoing investigation process at the KPK," he said.

As previously reported, Komnas HAM asked the Corruption Eradication Commission to open the door so that the Langkat Regent, who was not active, could issue a Wind War Plan.

This examination relates to the finding of a human cage at Terbit's residence which is suspected of violating human rights due to violent practices.

"Regarding the Regent, we ask that we open the door as wide as possible to explore the issue of human cages," said Komnas HAM Commissioner Choirul Anam, quoted from the video caption, Monday, January 31.

It is hoped that the KPK will seriously realize its statement some time ago which said it was ready to cooperate with Komnas HAM.

"I beg the KPK to realize the offer. We hope this week we can do it," he said.

For information, the existence of a human cage suspected of being a form of slavery at the house of the inactive Langkat Regent Terbit Angin Angin was revealed after the KPK came there to carry out a hand arrest operation (OTT).

Instead of finding Terbit, the KPK team found a number of people confined in an iron cage. At that time they claimed to be oil palm workers on Terbit's land.

Subsequently, these findings were reported by Migrant Care to Komnas HAM. Based on community reports, they stated that the occupants of the human cages received cruel behavior such as violence, irregular eating, not getting paid while working in Terbit's oil palm plantation and limited access to communication with outsiders.
