Official Security Guard Uniform Changed To Krem, National Police Chief: Carrying Limited Police Functions

JAKARTA - The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inaugurated the immediate color change of the security unit (satpam). The security guard now has a new identity in carrying out its function as a limited police force.

"Hopefully the professional security unit colleagues in carrying out police functions are limited, and of course their presence is truly felt by the community," said Sigit in his remarks at the 41st Anniversary of the Security Unit (Satpam), Wednesday, February 2.

Currently, the color of the official security guard uniform has changed. If previously it was similar to a police uniform, now it has been replaced with beige clothes and brown pants.

In addition, the National Police Chief also hopes that with the change in uniform, security guards can carry out their duties better. This is because security guards are expected to detect crimes early so that preventive measures can be taken.

"Security guards are expected to be able to detect potential crimes early on and be able to take preventive and fast action as part of predictive policing," said Sigit.

"Currently, the security forces have an increasingly important role in the maintenance of Kamtibmas," he continued.

In fact, Sigit said security guards have a big role in controlling COVID-19. They are also at the forefront of reminding the public to obey health protocols (prokes).

"Playing a role in screening the COVID-19 pandemic, security guards play an important role in initiating community discipline towards health protocols in the environment or work areas of colleagues such as markets, malls, shopping centers, factories, and tourism places as well as other places where colleagues - colleagues are there," said the National Police Chief.
