Despite Admitting Difficulty In Forming An Islamic Axis For The 2024 Presidential Election, PKB Still Wants To Lead A Coalition With PAN-PPP

JAKARTA - Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid said that currently his party is still communicating with political parties to form a coalition. The reason is, the formation of a coalition depends on who the figure will be carried.

Including the discourse on the formation of an Islamic coalition or Islamic axis for the 2024 presidential election which still needs to be finalized.

"It's still in the early stages of communication, it still needs maturation. It's not easy to form a coalition and its figures," said Jazilul to VOI, Wednesday, February 2.

The deputy chairman of the MPR admitted that it was difficult to form an Islamic coalition because Indonesia was full of religious and ethnic diversity. But what is certain, said Gus Jazil, is that PKB wants to continue to lead the formed coalition.

"Islamic coalitions are definitely more difficult to form, because Indonesians find it difficult to accept identity politics based on one religion or certain ethnicity. What is clear is that PKB is still trying to lead the coalition," he said.

It is known that the formation of a coalition of Islamic parties or the Islamic axis for the 2024 presidential election was previously initiated by the National Awakening Party (PKB).

PKB also invited the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Mandate Party (PAN) to meet the presidential nomination threshold of 20 percent.

It's just that each party has not yet reached a point of agreement to nominate the same candidate in the 2024 presidential election. PKB remains adamant that its General Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar goes forward, while PPP and PAN want other candidates. Now PPP is eyeing Anies and PAN is approaching Ridwan Kamil.
