YOGYAKARTA - Malioboro street vendors (PKL) hope to continue to sell along pedestrians until the end of the relocation to the two locations that have been prepared, namely Malioboro Terrace 1 and Malioboro Terrace 2, both of which are still located in Malioboro.

"Before moving to the new location, we hope to continue selling at the old location until February 7," said Chairman of the Angkringan Malioboro (Padma) Association Yati Dimanto in Yogyakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 31.

According to him, the new location prepared by the regional government is not yet ready and not suitable for use, especially the shelter that will be occupied by street vendors (PKL) on Teras Malioboro 2 is temporary.

"Therefore, we hope to continue selling until the deadline for moving. We were given the time to move on February 1-7," he said.

The same thing was conveyed by the Chairman of PPKLY Wawan Suhendra, who will continue to sell along the Malioboro pedestrian area until the deadline for moving.

“Moving to a new location takes time. So, we will continue to see how conditions develop in the field later," he said.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta Deputy Mayor Heroe Poerwadi said that the arrangement of traders in the two locations will be carried out by open lottery conducted by the traders themselves.

The number of traders who will be placed in the two structuring locations is around 1,800 people, 800 of which will be placed on the Malioboro Terrace 1 or the former Indra Cinema and around 1,000 traders will be placed on the Malioboro Terrace 2 or on the land of the former DIY Tourism Office.

"Once there is an agreement to move, we will make arrangements to improve and tidy up the condition of the stall. For example, power lines or other things," said Heroe.

The access gate from Jalan Mataram to Terrace Malioboro 2, he continued, is also being worked on and is expected to be completed within the next one or two days. "Soon it can be done. Maybe this Wednesday or Thursday," he said.
