JAKARTA - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Wandy Tuturoong said the government is currently drafting a government regulation (PP) regarding the status of land in the National Capital Region (IKN) Nusantara to anticipate land speculators.

"The substance of the PP, of course, clarifies land ownership, and the question of land ownership status is based on data from ATR/BPN. This PP is one of the derivative regulations of the IKN Law that is currently being prepared by the government," Wandy said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Friday, January 28.

As previously reported, he said, land speculators were rife in the IKN area, especially after President Joko Widodo announced the relocation of the capital city and the ratification of the IKN Law. The presence of speculators caused land prices in East Kalimantan to rise rapidly, even reaching ten times.

Wandy assessed that the emergence of land speculators was actually a common thing when there was an investment project.

"I think it's natural. But the government doesn't want to take it lightly. With this PP, land claims can be resolved without any dispute," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the existence of concessions above the total IKN area, where there are 162 mining, forestry, oil palm plantations, and coal-fired power plants concessions, Wandy ensured that the government has regulated everything in the IKN derivative regulations, including the obligation to reclamate post-mining lands in accordance with statutory provisions.

"Essentially, the government has prepared all the rules related to the use of IKN land so that later when the realization of IKN development is realized, there will be no more polemics. If there are still any, that's normal," said Wandy.

For information, the government has set a land area of 256.1 thousand hectares for IKN. The land area is larger than the previous plan of 200 thousand hectares.
