Anies Baswedan Is Advised To Extend The PSBB Again

JAKARTA - The third phase of the implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in DKI Jakarta will end tomorrow or June 4. Many questions arise about the future steps that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will take. Will the PSBB be extended or adopt a new normal lifestyle.

Public Policy Analysis, Trubus Rahadiansyah, suggested that the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan should extend the PSBB. This is because there are many things that have not been properly prepared to implement the new concept of normality.

"It should be more to extend the PSBB period for 14 days. That is probably the best option," Trubus told VOI, Wednesday, June 3.

By extending the PSBB period, said Trubus, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can formulate rules or policies that will be applied to the new concept of normality. Then, socialize related strict health protocols in the application of new norms.

According to him, if DKI Jakarta applies the new normality in these conditions, then crowds of people in public places cannot be avoided. This of course leads to the increasingly massive spread of COVID-19.

Moreover, he said, currently health services in the capital city are still far from sufficient to handle positive patients with COVID-19. Although there has been a decrease in the number of cases, it is not consistent and must be a major consideration.

"Of course it will lead to the spread of COVID-19 which is increasingly widespread. If we do not prepare everything to support the new normal concept (or new normality, red)," said Trubus.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must also think about buffer areas that decide to extend the PSBB period, such as Tangerang. If DKI applies the new concept of normality, what happens is that the people of Tangerang will flock to Jakarta.

When this happens, crowds of people cannot be avoided and it will even increase the potential for the spread or transmission of the virus. So, for now the imposition of the new normality is not the right step for DKI Jakarta.

"The buffer areas such as Tangerang have already decided to extend the PSBB. That is also something that must be considered," said Trubus.

Unlike the case with buffer areas, such as, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi. The area will follow the policies issued by the DKI Jakarta provincial government.

For this reason, if you are going to apply the new normality concept, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must coordinate with the buffering regional government to anticipate crowds.

"There must be collaboration between local governments. All must consider the pros and cons in making decisions," said Trubus.
