Timbulan Sampah Diprediksi Capai 150 Ton, DLH Jakarta Siapkan 3,900 Personel Kebersihan Di Malan Tahun Baru 2025

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Environment Agency (DLH) has prepared 3,900 cleaning personnel to maintain cleanliness in the city of Jakarta amid the enthusiasm of the community to celebrate the turn of the year on New Year's Eve 2025.

Thousands of these officers will work in three shifts, with the support of hundreds of cleaning fleets to ensure all debris can be resolved before the morning.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, explained that his party deployed cleaning personnel with a total of 3,900 officers. A total of 2,100 officers will be deployed in strategic areas, while thousands of other officers will be deployed to five administrative areas of Jakarta and the Thousand Islands.

"A total of 2,100 officers were alerted in strategic areas such as Monas, HI Roundabout, and along Thamrin-Sudirman Street. The rest were distributed to five administrative areas of Jakarta and the Thousand Islands, equipped with 68 Type trucks, 53 road sweepers, and 27 cross cars," Asep told reporters, Saturday, December 28.

Asep predicts the amount of waste on New Year's Eve will reach 150 tons. This number increased compared to the previous year.

Asep explained that this increase in volume was influenced by the increase in crowded points in Jakarta as a center for public celebration. The potential for rain on New Year's Eve is also expected to increase the weight of the garbage transported.

"Shift afternoon until evening is the most crucial time, considering that community activities peaked at that time. (But) We have arranged that the waste produced during the celebration can be transported immediately so that it does not accumulate until tomorrow," said Asep.

In addition to optimizing operations, Asep said, DKI DLH also invites the public to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness. We urge residents to use environmentally friendly equipment such as tumblers and re-users to reduce the use of single-use plastic. Our cooperation is all very important so that this holiday season remains minimal in waste," said Asep.

In an effort to support cleanliness, Asep added, DLH Jakarta has provided additional facilities such as temporary trash bins in a number of strategic locations. This effort is made so that it is easier for people to dispose of waste in its place during the celebration.

This is in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Environment regarding the Waste Control of the 2024 Christmas Celebrations and the 2025 New Year which appeals to the Regional Government in waste management during the holiday season. Asep ensured that the directives could be implemented properly, especially in waste management in crowded locations.

He also ensured that the entire cleaning team had been prepared to anticipate a surge in waste on New Year's Eve.

"With careful arrangements and community support and in accordance with the direction of the Acting Governor, DLH is optimistic that it can maintain the cleanliness of the capital city during and after the celebration," concluded Asep.
