10,000 Sritex Workers Will Attack Jakarta In The Aftermath Of Cassation Rejected By The Supreme Court

JAKARTA - Thousands of employees of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Textile (Sritex) Tbk plan to hold an action in Jakarta in the aftermath of the rejection of the cassation from the Supreme Court (MA) over the bankruptcy decision issued by the Semarang Commercial Court (PN).

"As we said yesterday, workers have said that they want to take action in Jakarta," said the Coordinator of the Advocacy for the Sritex Group Worker Union Slamet Kaswanto after the massive istigosah prayer and the open pulpit in Sukoharjo, Central Java, Friday, December 27, was confiscated by Antara.

He said the plan was that next week the workers would take action at the MA Office and would do it on the Jakarta roadshow.

"Including we will go to the President's office in an effort to encourage President Prabowo because he has stated his readiness to defend Sritex workers. So we want to encourage, not make any demands," he said.

This was done, because according to him President Prabowo was committed to helping Sritex so that his operations would continue and there would be no layoffs.

"So we give encouragement. Then we will conduct a roadshow to the relevant ministries, which have been conveyed by Pak Prabowo, the four ministries and in his judiciary, namely the Supreme Court because the management has made a review effort, so we will provide input there that there are tens of thousands of Sritex workers who must be considered," he said.

He said the plan was for 10,000 workers to take part in the action.

As a follow-up to the plan, his party will send a letter to the National Police Chief regarding the action next week.

"It should be as soon as possible, but the conditions for the end of the year have been somewhat delayed. We convey that we want to continue working, by continuing to work, the company's operations must continue," he said.
