Yasonna Laoly's Check: Political Experts Call It Reasonable But Unusual
JAKARTA - The examination of the former Minister of Law and Human Rights who is also a PDI-P cadre, Yasonna Laoly has drawn responses from many parties.
Like political experts from Jenderal Sudirman University (Unsoed), Luthfi Makhasin, it is a reasonable but quite unique step.
"What makes it unusual is that this involves officials from large political parties who have held power for ten years and have now declared themselves outside the government," Luthfi said when contacted from Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.
The PDI-P's stance in responding to this demarcation will be a test of the party's consistency in supporting law enforcement.
According to him, from the perspective of law enforcement, delinquency against Yasonna is an understandable step.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had banned Yasonna from traveling abroad in order to support the investigation and search for a fugitive in a corruption case, Harun Masiku.
Apart from Yasonna, the KPK also implemented a similar ban on the Secretary-General of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto, who is a suspect in the alleged corruption and obstruction of the investigation.

"On December 24, 2024, the KPK has issued Decree Number 1757 of 2024 which contains a ban on traveling abroad for two Indonesian citizens, namely YHL and HK," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika, when confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 25.
Tessa explained that the ban was carried out because the presence of both of them in the country was needed to smooth the process of investigating alleged corruption. The prohibition is valid for six months.
