2024 Christmas Crossing: ASDP Merak Records 44,800 Passengers And Vehicle Increase
JAKARTA - PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Merak Main Branch, Cilegon, reported that 44,800 passengers had crossed from Java Island to Sumatra on Christmas Day 2024. This data was obtained from the Merak Command Post in a 24-hour period.
"The total number of passengers crossing on D-day was recorded at 44,800 people, an increase of 10 percent compared to the previous year," said General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) Merak Main Branch, Rudi Sunarko, in a statement in Serang, Banten, Thursday.
This figure is higher than the same period in 2023, where the number of passengers reached 40,888 people.
Meanwhile, the total number of passengers crossing from D-7 to D was recorded at 310,317 people. This figure shows a decrease of 12 percent compared to the same period last year, which reached 354,247 people.
In the period 25 December 2024 from 00.00 to 23.59 WIB, 27 ships were operated.

For two-wheeled vehicles, the number crossing on D-day reached 1,856 units, an increase of 63 percent compared to the previous year which was recorded at 1,141 units.
The number of four-wheeled vehicles was recorded at 5,260 units, an increase of 5 percent from last year's realization of 4,999 units.
Overall, the total number of vehicles that had crossed on D day reached 10,580 units, an increase of 34 percent compared to the previous year which recorded 7,879 units.
However, when viewed from the total number of vehicles crossing from D-7 to D, it was recorded as many as 73,920 units. This figure decreased by 8 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, which reached 80,274 units.
