191 Prisoners In Cipinang Class I Prison Get Christmas Remission, 5 Are Free Immediately

JAKARTA - A total of 191 inmates or inmates at the Class I Cipinang Correctional Institution (Lapas), East Jakarta received special remissions for Christmas Day 2024.

Of the hundreds of prisoners who received remission, five of them were immediately declared free after receiving remission and the other was free through the parole reintegration program (PB).

The Daily Executor of the Head of Cipinang Class I Prison, Fonika Affandi, said that the granting of remissions was part of the prison's commitment to encourage positive changes for the inmates.

"This mission is a form of appreciation for the discipline, commitment, and good behavior of the inmates while participating in the coaching program," said Fonika, Wednesday, December 25.

Fonika hopes that this moment will be an encouragement so that the inmates can improve themselves and prepare for a better life after the end of their sentence.

Fonika added that the granting of remissions at this Christmas is not just an award, but also a reminder that love and togetherness still exist in the prison environment.

We believe that every individual has a second chance. This Christmas teaches us all, both officers and inmates, about the importance of love and harmony to create a better atmosphere in prisons," he explained.

The moment of granting remission is also part of the Cipinang Class I Prison's efforts to end 2024 with a strong message about rehabilitation and a second chance.

"With the remission given, the inmates are expected to be able to prove themselves as better individuals, ready to contribute positively in the community," he concluded.
