KAI Boss Regarding Direct Train Services Continued After Christmas And New Year: We'll Evaluate Later

JAKARTA - President Director of PT KAI (Persero) Didiek Hartantyo opened his voice regarding the sustainability of direct train operations without transit or direct train after the Christmas and New Year 2025 (Nataru) period.

For your information, KAI provides direct train services during this Nataru holiday.

There are two relations offered, namely Gambir-Yogyakarta PP and Gambir-Semarang Tawang PP.

Currently, continued Didiek, direct train services without transit are available when Nataru is a trial.

Meanwhile, regarding the regular continuation of this service, Didiek said it was necessary to conduct an evaluation first.

"This is a trial, we will operate it in Nataru. Well, for sustainability, the evaluation will be from the aspect of safety," he said at a press conference at the Office, Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Monday, December 23.

Didiek said that the safety aspect is an important thing to pay attention to from this direct train service.

This is because the driver cannot rest because he has to complete the trip, so it can affect his condition.

"Masinism is a complete concentration. A full concentration of jobs must be fatigue. Now we will check this. So we will pay attention to safety aspects," he said.

Not only the safety aspect, Didek said that the decision to continue or not this service also departed from public interest, as well as its commercial value. This is because non-stop travel also needs to take into account the tariff adjustment.

"Ini value komersial-nya juga, kalau langsung ini targanya sama, benefitnya apa bagi Kereta? Karena masnisnya beroperasi 5 jam, paki kita bayar sama, enggak. Untuk itu, maka setiap kali ada kenaikan kualitas perjalanan, ya pasti ada cost dan benefit-nya. Nah ini kita akan evaluasi. Jadi belum akan diputuskan dulu," tuturnya.

For your information, the direct train service for the Gambir-Yogyakarta PP route is available for December 20, 2024 to January 5, 2025.

The rates offered are IDR 640,000 to IDR 670,000 for the executive class.

This Gambir-Yogyakarta relationship departs at 23.25 WIB and arrives at 05.26 WIB. Then the Yogyakarta-Gambir schedule departs at 12.20 WIB and arrives at 18.20 WIB.

Meanwhile, Gambir-Semarang Tawang PP relations are available during December 24, 2024 to January 5, 2025. The tariff is IDR 280,000 to IDR 320,000 for the economy class and IDR 550,000 to IDR 550,000 for the executive class.

In detail, the schedule for Gambir-Semarang Tawang is to depart 23.55 WIB and arrive at 04.48 WIB.

Then the schedule for Semarang Tawang-Gambir was 11.00 WIB and arrived 15.52 WIB.
