The Bogor Regency Government of West Java stated that SMPIT Darul Quran Mulia, the bus group involved in the accident, did not report the activity tour to Malang City, East Java, to the Bogor Regency Education Office.

"They departed (study tour) did not notify the Head of the Education Office (Kadisdik). Kadisdik reported that there was an incident via WhatsApp, the information was from the media," said Bogor Regency Regional Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 23.

The bus, which was boarded by a group of students from SMPIT Darul Quran Mulia, Gunung Sindur District, Bogor, was involved in an accident with a truck at Kilometer (KM) 77+200 Pandaan-Malang Toll Road, Lawang District, Malang Regency, East Java.

The Bogor Regency Government previously issued an appeal to all education units in the area not to hold a study tour outside the region, in the aftermath of a tourism bus accident in Subang Regency in mid-May 2024.

The appeal follows up on the Circular (SE) of the Governor of West Java 64/PK.01/KESRA in 2024 concerning Study Tours in the Education Unit.

The circular contains three points, first, the education study tour activities are encouraged to be carried out in cities within the West Java Province through visits to the center of development of science, cultural centers, and local educational tourism destinations, which are aimed at supporting local economic growth in West Java Province.

Except for educational units that have planned and entered into a study tour cooperation contract which is carried out outside West Java Province and cannot be canceled.

Second, the study tour activities pay attention to the principle of benefit and security for all students, teachers, and education personnel by taking into account the readiness of vehicle crews, the security of the route to be passed, as well as coordinating and obtaining recommendations from the district/city transportation office regarding the technical feasibility of vehicles.

Third, the education unit and foundation that will hold a study tour, to coordinate by giving a notification letter to the education office according to their authority.
