Entering South Korea's Automotive Market 2025, BYD Focuses On Preparing Purna Selling Services
JAKARTA Automotive manufacturer from China, BYD, continues to expand its global market with plans to enter the passenger vehicle segment in South Korea starting January 2025. Complete preparations have been made, including cooperating with six dealer partners to support the country's full-sale operations and services.
Based on a report from CNevpost quoted on Saturday, December 21, BYD has appointed six main partners, namely DT Networks, Samchully EV, Harmony Automobile, Vision Mobility, GNB Mobility, and SS Motors. These dealers will be responsible for the sale of BYD passenger cars as well as customer service in South Korea.
"South Korea's BYD is preparing for the official launch of a passenger car in January, after evaluating the feasibility of the country's four-wheeled business," the Maeil Business Newspaper report said.
BYD had previously confirmed this plan last month, stating that South Korea's domestic market evaluation was complete, and they were ready to launch a passenger car brand in early 2025.
Although BYD commercial vehicles, such as buses and electric trucks, have been present in South Korea since 2016, this will be the first step in the brand in the country's passenger vehicle segment.
In addition to expanding market presence, BYD also has a strategic plan to cooperate with KG Mobility Korea in the production of electric vehicle batteries. This collaboration is planned to support the demand for battery mass production, making this project the first BYD partnership in South Korea with local companies.
However, until now, there has been no official information from BYD regarding the location and operational details of the battery factory.

Apart from South Korea, BYD has been present in various international markets, including Indonesia, by offering four flagship models of its electric vehicles. This expansion demonstrates BYD's commitment to competing in the global automotive market, especially in the transition era to electric vehicles.
Steps into the South Korean passenger vehicle market are expected to strengthen BYD's position as one of the main players in the world's electric vehicle industry.
