Women In Bekasi Followed And Watered By Ex-Girlfriends, Police: The Motive Is Jealousy
JAKARTA - A woman with the initials FR (20) was doused with hard water in North Bekasi, Bekasi City, West Java, on Saturday night, December 7. Now, the police have explained that jealousy is the motive for suspect AR (25) to pour hard water on FR.
"The suspect with the initials AR (25) has been the victim's boyfriend since one year ago, then the suspect feels jealous because the victim is often caught walking with other men," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi in his statement, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 14.
Ade Ary said that because of jealousy, AR finally had the intention to injure the victim and in November 2024 the perpetrators bought sulfate acid from online stores.
"At the time of the incident, the perpetrator followed the victim who was walking with a man, and when he passed in a dark place, the perpetrator immediately approached the victim and poured the sulfate acid that had been prepared beforehand towards the victim's face and body which resulted in the victim's serious burns," said Ade Ary.

According to Ade Ary, after the victim reported the incident on Sunday (8/12), the team immediately processed the crime scene, observation, interviewing the victim and witnesses around the crime scene.
"Then on Friday, December 13 at 00.16 WIB in Karadenan, Arkopolis Complex, Karadenan Village, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, West Java, officers succeeded in arresting suspect AR," explained Ade Ary.
The evidence that was secured from the suspect's hands was a motorbike, a pair of flip-flops, a black t-shirt and a black cell phone.
"Furthermore, the suspect and the evidence were brought to the Tahbang Sub-Directorate/Resmob of the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation," said Ade Ary.
According to Ade Ary, the suspect is subject to Article 354 of the Criminal Code concerning severe persecution, subsidiary to Article 353 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated persecution and subsidiary to Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning ordinary persecution with a threat of 8 years.
