Sri Mulyani's Subordinates Said There Would Be An Adjustment To Conventional And Electric Cigarette Retail Selling Prices In 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance said that there would be an adjustment to retail selling prices (HJE) for conventional cigarettes and e-cigarettes.

As for the Tobacco Product Excise (CHT) there will be no adjustments in 2025.

"Regarding HJE, we can convey that in 2025 a policy of adjusting HJE from cigarettes will be carried out, and there will be no CHT adjustment," said Director General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance Askolani at the Press Conference of our State Budget, Wednesday, December 11.

Askolani explained that the policy will be prepared in two Regulations of the Minister of Finance (PMK) which include conventional cigarettes and e-cigarettes that will be used for policy bases in 2025.

Therefore, Askolani emphasized that the PMK is being prepared with the Fiscal Policy Agency which is expected to be implemented this week.

"We have prepared the PMK together with the BKF, it has been harmonized at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and God willing, this week it can be implemented," he said.

According to Askolani, this HJE adjustment is one of the government's steps in regulating the selling price of cigarettes in the community while still considering various factors such as public health and state revenues.

"Regarding the CHT and HJE policies, of course the 2025 policy considers many fields, many factors. We also mitigate the downtrading that occurs during 2024 and we will minimize the 2025 hopefully and we will also consider the labor industry," he said.
