Bappenas The Value Of Security Stability Is The Main Prerequisite For Economic Growth

JAKARTA - Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy assessed that security stability is an important prerequisite for inclusive economic growth and community welfare.

"The development of terrorism is one of the national development priorities," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

Bappenas and BNPT strengthened the synergy of countering terrorism, which is the first step in intensive cooperation for the next five years.

Rachmat also appreciated the performance of BNPT as the frontline for countering terrorism in Indonesia.

"This partnership is a form of our commitment to ensuring national security stability which is an important foundation for achieving people's welfare and inclusive economic growth," said the Head of Bappenas.

On this occasion, Bappenas also supported the establishment of the National Preparedness Center for Counterterrorism which will begin in 2025. This center is expected to increase public preparedness and the counter-terrorism threat.

"We believe that with a strong synergy between ministries, institutions, communities, and international partners, we can together create a safer, peaceful, and prosperous Indonesia," said the Minister of VAT.

Head of BNPT Police Commissioner General (Komjen Pol) Eddy Hartono also highlighted the urgency of cross-sectoral coordination and international cooperation in dealing with global threats, including the issue of Foreign Terrorist Fighters involving Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad.

Discussions with Bappenas also include discussions related to various strategic steps such as national preparedness, community empowerment, strengthening apparatus capacity, and mapping areas prone to radicalism.

The counter-radicalization strategy, such as counter-narrative, counter-magnitude, and counter-ideological, is said to be the focus to fight the spread of radicalism.

"Deradicalization will be carried out with a comprehensive approach, both to prisoners, former convicts, as well as vulnerable individuals or groups exposed to radicalism," said Eddy.
