Bank Syariah Indonesia Prepares To Open A New Branch In The Middle East

JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) will open a new branch office in the center of the global sharia economy, namely Saudi Arabia.

BSI Treasury & International Banking Director Moh Adib expressed BSI's desire to attend and open a new branch at the center of the global sharia economy, namely in the Middle East, precisely in Saudi Arabia.

"Next year we will also be present in Saudi Arabia, hopefully our good intentions will be realized," said Abid at BSI Sharia Economic Outlook 2024, on Friday, November 17.

Adib explained that the new branch in Saudi Arabia is still in the process of coordinating with the Saudi Arabian authorities, namely the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).

"We have asked for an application to open branches there. The process is not easy but must be worked on," he said.

According to Adib, BSI will continue to strive for this to be realized and will travel through the business-to-business (B2B) and government to government (G2G) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Indonesia.

"It's not easy, but we have to try through the B2B and G2G routes through the Arab Embassy here, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there, we have met twice with the same," he explained.

Adib hopes that the opening of the new branch office of BSI in Saudi Arabia can be realized in the first quarter of 2024 or the second quarter of 2024.

"We have met twice with the same, hopefully in the near future it can be realized next year in the first quarter, or the second quarter no later," he said.
