2023 U-17 World Cup: Brazil's Defending Champion Defeated 2-3 From Iran
JAKARTA The Brazilian U-17 national team suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat against Iran on the first matchday of the 2023 U-17 World Cup Group C elimination at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Brazil in the first half managed to outperform Iran by two goals. The first advantage they got through Rayan's goal took advantage of the corner kick situation.
Then in the additional minutes of the first half bad luck fell on Iran. Their player Abolfazi Zami actually scored an own goal.
Nine minutes after returning from the dressing room, Iran kicked off the Brazilian defense and reduced the position to 1-2 through a goal scored by Yaghub Barajeh.
The position then turned equally strong in the 69th minute. This time it was the turn of Iranian player Kasra Taheri to register his name on the scoreboard.
Just four minutes later, Iran again shocked Brazil. They broke into the goal of Phielipe Leal's team through a goal scored by Esmaeil Gholizadeh.

This result makes Iran sit in second place in the group standings with a collection of three points. They are behind England who took the top spot after a 10--0 win over New Caledonia.
Meanwhile, this defeat made Brazil sit in third place. They were followed by Kaledonia who had to be caretakers.
Brazil will next face New Caledonia on Tuesday, November 14, before three days later facing England.
