BMKG Bandung Asks Residents To Be Alert To The Impact Of Transition

BANDUNG - The Bandung Station Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to people in the Greater Bandung area to be aware of the potential impact of extreme weather because pancaroshadow has begun to be felt.

"The public is advised to remain alert to the potential impacts of extreme weather that usually occur during the transition period, such as light to heavy rain on a local scale of short duration, strong winds, tornadoes and hail which can have an impact, such as floods, landslides, fallen trees, and other impacts of damage," said Head of the Class 1 Geophysics Station of Bandung BMKG Teguh Rahayu, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 6.

Based on the analysis and predictions of the season, he said, currently the Greater Bandung area of Pancarobayang is marked by the growth of low clouds that can grow into significant convective clouds.

"In Greater Bandung, there are several local influences that support the potential for convective cloud growth that can cause rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in parts of Greater Bandung," he said.

When viewed from the dynamics of the global scale of the atmosphere-sea, he explained, the values of SOI, IOD, and Nino 3.4 do not show a significant influence on increasing rainfall in Indonesian territory, but Rosby Ekuator wave activity is expected to be active in West Java which supports the potential growth of rain clouds in the region.

"The area of the meeting/slow wind speed (convergence) was observed extending from the west coast of Bengkulu to southern West Java, this condition was able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth along the convergence area," he said.

An analysis of wind patterns (streamlines) shows that the Greater Bandung region is dominated by east winds, westerly winds are starting to appear active entering the Greater Bandung region, especially between noon, afternoon, and evening.

BMKG reminded the public to remain alert to the potential impact of extreme weather that usually occurs during the transition period. Likewise, people who live in topographic areas are steep or mountainous or prone to landslides.

"BMKG asks the public to always be vigilant when there is light to moderate rain that occurs for several consecutive days. The public is expected to always 'update' weather and climate information through the BMKG's official website and social media," said Teguh.
