PDIP Anti-Political Dynasty, Djarot Singgung Megawati And Puan Maharani Career From The Bottom
JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Djarot Saiful Hidayat confirmed that his party was anti-political dynastic. He said there were rules in his party that prohibited a family from advancing from the same electoral district.
"For example, husband and wife, for example, should not be nominated as members of the DPR or legislature at the same level. For example, as a candidate from North Sumatra, my wife is also a member of the DPR, that's not allowed. Never mind in one electoral district, different electoral districts are not allowed. So we PDIP is against dynastic politics, we limit it," said Djarot in a discussion, Monday, October 30.
Djarot also denied the dynastic politics of the Soekarno family in the party bearing the bull symbol. He said PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri built a political career from below when her father had died.
Likewise Puan Maharani, Megawati's daughter. "(Megawati, ed) became vice president, president, party chairman too, yes. Oh, that's Bung Karno's political dynasty, right, I said it's not true," he said.
"It's true that Mrs. Mega (child, ed) Bung Karno but she went through a margin process in politics from below and when Bung Karno had died, decades," continued Djarot.
Meanwhile, Puan, continued Djarot, also started her political career after Megawati was not in power. Just like her mother, she also processes being a legislative candidate before being able to become the chairman of the DPR.
"So it's by process. From the DPR RI and the most votes are assigned as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture from below as well. This is a matter of dynasticity from heredity," said the member of the DPR.

As previously reported, the issue of political dynasties spread after the son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ran as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
Gibran officially registered with Prabowo to the KPU supported by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, which consisted of nine parties including the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and a number of other parties including the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).
This step made PDIP furious and said Gibran's membership automatically ended after he did not follow the party's decision. This is because the party bearing the bull symbol carries Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in the 2024 presidential election.
Meanwhile, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed that Gibran took this stance because it was based on President Jokowi's political decision which was rejected by his desire to extend the presidential term from two terms to three terms.
