2023 Asian Para Games: Add 2 Gold, Indonesian Contingent Overtakes Malaysia
JAKARTA – The position of the Indonesian contingent in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Para Games standings rose to eighth position, Thursday, October 26, 2023 morning Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
This is after the addition of two gold medals from Sri Sugiyani and Saptoyogo Purnomo. Both of them successively became the best in the women's cycling B21 km time trial and the men's 100 meter athletics T37.
Sri Sugiyati won first place with a time of 27 minutes 59.95 seconds. He beat China's representative Wang Linhua (28 minutes 52.31 seconds) who won silver and Nur Azlia Syafinaz Mohd Saiz from Malaysia (29 minutes 19.38 seconds) who got bronze.
This is the second medal presented by Sri Sugiyati at this year's Asian Para Games. Previously, she got silver in the women's B3000 meter individual pursuit.
Meanwhile, Saptoyogo successfully finished in first place with a time of 11.35 seconds. This time record also broke his own record of 11.49 seconds which was set at the 2018 Asian Para Games in Jakarta and Palembang.
Saptoyogo beat Ali Yousef from Saudi Arabia who won silver (12.11 seconds) and Shreyansh Trivedi from India who got bronze with a time of 12.24 seconds.
This is the third gold medal Saptoyogo won at this year's edition of the Asian Games. Previously, he got two golds in the men's 400 meters T37 and men's 200 meters T37.
Indonesia has now collected a total of nine gold medals. Launching the official website of the Asian Para Games at 10.00 a.m. WIB, the additional two gold medals made Indonesia move Malaysia, which fell to ninth position with seven gold medals.
