Agung Laksono: Golkar Welcome If Gibran Joins
JAKARTA - The chairman of the Golkar Party Expert Council, Agung Laksono, welcomed the news that Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka was rumored to be joining the Golkar Party. According to Agung, the presence of President Joko Widodo's eldest son in Golkar shows that the banyan party is one of the parties chosen by young people.
"In principle, we welcome, we will welcome Gibran if he wants to join," said Agung Laksono in his statement, Tuesday, October 17.
Agung said, as a central party, the Golkar Party is very open to all groups, including young people. Moreover, he said,
The Golkar Party has a history of very honorable and consistent institutions building progressive works.
"Golkar's identity is work and work for the community, so there is a real contribution from every government. With his position as Mayor of Solo at this time, of course Gibran's presence will show Golkar's identity as a party that focuses on the real work of his cadres as leaders of the nation," he said.
In addition, according to Agung Laksono, the entry of Gibran is proof that the Golkar Party is considered a forum that gave birth to nationalist and moderate national leaders in the eyes of young people.
"In the eyes of young people, Golkar is a gathering place for nationalists, moderately tolerant, including professionals and religious circles. So this may be a consideration for young people, including Gibran, to join Golkar," he said.
The member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) then leaked the pair of vice presidential candidates (cawapres) who will be juxtaposed with Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate at the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) from the Golkar Party.
"I heard there is a commitment that the slot for the vice presidential candidate KIM from the Golkar Party, even if it is not from Golkar, will be 'in Golkarkan' first. It can be through AMPI or other work hasta mass organizations," said Agung Laksono.
