West Java Distributes 15 Million Liters Of Water For People Affected By Drought

BANDUNG - The West Java Provincial Government has so far distributed 15,591,960 liters of clean water for residents of districts and cities affected by drought.

"Based on data from BPBD West Java, 15 million liters of clean water have been distributed to meet the needs of residents affected by drought," said Head of the West Java Communications and Information Office (Diskominfo) Ika Mardiah in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

Ika said that based on West Java BPBD data from January to October 10, 2023, there were 23 districts and cities affected by drought and lack of clean water, covering 287,288 families.

"To distribute clean water, West Java BPBD cooperates with BPBD and related agencies in districts and cities, such as PMI and PDAM," he said.

The 23 areas that lack clean water are Bogor City/Regency, Bekasi Regency, Karawang Regency, Sukabumi City/Regency, West Bandung Regency.

Then, Sumedang Regency, Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya Regency, Cimahi City, Cianjur Regency, Kuningan Regency, Depok City, Purwakarta Regency, Indramayu Regency, Cirebon City/Regency.

Then Subang Regency, Ciamis Regency, Majalengka Regency, Pangandaran Regency, and Bandung Regency.

Meanwhile, areas affected by drought with forest and land fires (karhutla) occurred in 22 districts and cities, while the burned agricultural land reached 861.3 hectares.

"The forest and land fires in 22 regencies and cities can mostly be handled with the cooperation of all relevant parties," he said.

Furthermore, Ika added, the West Java BPBD continues to coordinate with regional BPBD and related agencies to provide information regarding data and efforts to handle further forest and land fires.
