Police Arrested, Dozens Of Greenpeace Activists Finally Returned Home
Dozens of Greenpeace activists, who were detained by the police yesterday, have now been sent home. This was directly said by the Menteng Police Chief, Kompol Irwandy.
"Since yesterday (repaired)," said Irwandhy when confirmed, Sunday, October 8.
Irwandhy explained the reason why the dozens of activists were sent home, because they had been asked for information regarding the demonstrations they had held.
"After being asked for information, he will be allowed to return," he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that the police arrested dozens of Greenpeace activists during a demonstration at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout, Central Jakarta, Friday morning, October 6, at around 06.00 WIB.
Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komarudin confirmed the information. They were secured when they threw themselves into the pool with attributes in the form of red octopuses.
"So they entered the area of the HI Roundabout pool. The officers had given an appeal but they were ignored. And about 10 to 12 people threw themselves in by inserting the goods and we immediately secured them," said Komarudin when confirmed, Friday, October 6.
Komarudin explained that they were secured because they did not comply with the rules. Because, to convey their aspirations, there must still be regulations.
Especially when holding the action, they also did not provide information to hold a peaceful demonstration at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta.

"For demonstrations that do not require permission, but in the law it is stipulated that public expression submission is mandatory to notify the police, that is the first. So they are without notification," he said.
"Then secondly, there are places in the implementation of opinions in public, so freedom of opinion should not be interpreted as freely as there are rules in it that must be obeyed by every citizen because it is a law made. For example, if the rules are not heeded, we must secure it," he continued.
