Corruption Case Of IDR 833 Million, Former Bank Mantri In Asahan Sued 7 Years In Prison
The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Asahan District Attorney (Kejari), North Sumatra, has demanded Juan Irwan Parningotan, a former BRI mantri (customer) in Asahan for seven years in prison in a corruption case worth Rp. 833,991,645.
"Yes, the defendant Juan Irwan Parningotan has read out his demands, namely for seven years in prison, a fine of Rp. 250 million, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Prosecutor's Office of Asahan Harold Manurung at the Medan District Court, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 2.
The prosecutor assessed that the facts of the trial of the defendant had fulfilled the criminal element of Article 2 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 had been amended by Law No. 20 of 2021 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption.
Namely, without the right to enrich oneself by other people or corporations which resulted in state finances amounting to Rp833,991,645.
"In addition, the defendant was charged with additional punishment for paying compensation (UP) for state financial losses amounting to Rp833,991,645," he said.
With the provisions no later than a month after the case has permanent legal force, the convict's property will be confiscated and then auctioned off by the prosecutor or if it is also not sufficient to cover the UP, it will be replaced with a sentence of 3.5 years in prison.
"The aggravating thing is that the defendant's actions are not in line with the government's program in eradicating corruption and there is no return on state financial losses," he said.
Meanwhile, according to the prosecutor, the mitigating factor has never been convicted, admitting, regretting and being polite in the trial.
In the indictment, it was revealed that the defendant manipulated customer data as if he was entitled to Micro People's Business Credit (KUR) which caused state financial losses at the BRI Bandar Pasir Mandoge Unit, Kota Kisaran Branch Office and BRI Unit Terminal II in Kisaran City, Asahan Regency.
