Toyota GR Corolla Gets Latest Trims In The US, Without Morizo Edition

JAKARTA - Just launched in 2022, Toyota GR Corolla again received a minor change plus the latest trim, namely Premium, following the Core or Circuit Edition type.

Mike Tripp, as Vice President of Toyota Vehicle Marketing and Communications, said the hot hatch model had received tremendous enthusiasm since it was first introduced, bringing its latest trim.

"This model has captured the passion for driving, by adding a Premium type with high standard performance components and improved interiors, we can give fans more ways to enjoy this incredible hot hatch." Tripp said in his statement, Monday, September 25.

Positioned between the trim Core and Circuit, the Premium variant has a Suede Brin Naub layer on the seat that is comfortable equipped with a GR (Gazoo Racing) logo. Heating steering wheel is also presented, an audio system of eight JBL speakers, as well as a front and rear parking sensor.

Performance aspects are also not abandoned with the Premium Corolla trim GR equipped with a brake cooling channel as well as a differential torque slip on front and rear which helps deliver power from side to side when tilting.

The Core variant is provided with Performance Package for consumers who want aggressive performances with side rockers coded GR-Four, sports-tuned suspensions, and 15-inch 15-palang rims covered in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.

The Corolla Circuit Edition GR is one of the top trims in this model. Customers get everything in the Premium and Core variants, coupled with a fake carbon fiber roof, a standout engine hood with black-light air ventilation, black side rocker graphics, and a black-lap rear spoiler.

This trim update also consists of an 18-inch 10-palang alloy from BBS, which has a light weight that reduces the weight of the vehicle.

Among these updates, Toyota does not provide the Morizo Edition variant. The limited number of 200 units is no longer present in the US market.

All variants still have an 8-inch MID screen and an 8-inch multimedia setting touch screen. The car also features the latest, namely Drive Connect, which allows users to set the cabin system by simply saying "Hey Toyota".

Not to forget, the competitor from Honda Civic Type R has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 technology consisting of various features, Pre-Collition System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Automatic High Beams.

Toyota also does not change the engine configuration on the Corolla GR update, equipped with a 1.6 liter G16E-GTS engine with three turbocharged cylinders that generate up to 300 dk of power and 370 Nm of torque, with a six-acceleration manual transmission system.

Talking about the price, trim Core is priced at 36,100 US dollars or around Rp559.4 million. Meanwhile, trim Premium costs 39,920 US dollars or the equivalent of Rp618.4 million. For Circuit Edition, the price has increased slightly from before with a value of 44,740 US dollars or Rp692.8 million.
