Mahfud Invites Ulama Throughout The Horses To Guard The Election

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD invited Alim Ulama throughout the Horseshoe to jointly maintain the peaceful general election.

According to him, this is to care for the legacy of the previous scholars who have fought for Indonesia.

"In the past, it was our ulama who participated in establishing this country so that carrying out the election was to care for the legacy of our ulama who have participated in establishing the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," said Mahfud while filling the National Seminar with Alim Ulama throughout the Horseshoe with the theme Towards the Peaceful and Dignity 2024 Election at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Blokagung, Banyuwangi, East Java, Sunday (24/9) as reported by ANTARA.

Mahfud also invited the public to carry out peaceful elections to take care of Indonesia.

Regarding different choices, according to Mahfud, this is a good thing because different choices are a form of democracy. He also conveyed that voters would vote based on the belief of their respective consciences.

"On February 14, you will choose the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs, maybe there are 2 pairs, maybe there are 3, this is still a debate, and that is good, it continues to be debated and that is good," he said.

He also asked the public to choose a leader based on beliefs and conscience.

"The choice is based on the belief whispered by conscience that this is my representative who fits me to choose from, this is my leader who I choose," said Mahfud.

In addition, Mahfud emphasized that whoever wins should be respected later because the election is a form of deliberation to elect a leader and not to win their respective groups.

"We admit that we help, the losers help from their respective positions, so that this country runs as a mandate inherited by our ulama when we founded the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said Mahfud.
