Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs-ASEIC Korea Invites 30 Selected SMEs to Support Sustainable Business

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Sesmenkop UKM) Arif Rahman Hakim emphasized the importance of green business transformation for SMEs in a sustainable manner.

This is in order to realize green business transformation for MSMEs, especially in renewable energy, waste management and green manufacturing, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) together with the Korean government through the ASEM-SME Eco-Innovation Center (ASEIC) held a "Workshop On Capacity Building Program for Green Transition of Indonesia SMEs" on September 18-22, 2023.

This workshop was attended by 30 selected SMEs who passed the selection from various regions in Indonesia.

"SMEs must have the courage to change and be committed to sustainable business practices to increase competitiveness in domestic and global markets, as well as contribute to environmental sustainability," said Arif in a written statement, Monday, September 25.

Arif added that the participants were given a comprehensive understanding of green business transformation, starting from policies, challenges, opportunities, potential markets, funding schemes, to green business trends at national and international levels from various experts from the government, private sector, industry associations. , as well as international organizations, as well as experts from Korea.

"Participants will receive intensive assistance and have the opportunity to explore the potential for collaboration with Korean SMEs in terms of technology transfer and joint ventures," he said.

In addition, as many as 10 selected SMEs will have the opportunity to visit the field either in person or virtually with Korean experts to further explore the business transformation that must be carried out by Indonesian SMEs, in November 2023.

One of the SMEs in the top 10, namely the Head of Business Strategic from Waste4Change, Adytia Prayoga, expressed her desire to collaborate further with Korean SMEs. "In particular, in terms of technology transfer and potential joint businesses in the future," he said.
