Men-Females Arrested With Hands Handcuffed From West Java, Indonesian Embassy: They Are In Cambodia, Working On Online Scams
JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Phnom Penh is handling the case of two Indonesian citizens (WNI) that are needed badly by companies that commit online technology-based fraud or online scams.The statement was made to confirm a video on social media showing two Indonesian citizens, handcuffed, asking the Indonesian government for help.In a video from the @Android-AK-47 account on X, a social media previously known as Twitter, seen by a woman and a man, handcuffed, claiming to have been held captive for several days without being fed and drinking.In the video, there is also a man who calls himself Prince Gray who says that the two Indonesian citizens are residents of Purwakarta, West Java."The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh is currently handling the case of two Indonesian citizens who claim to be treated badly by online scam companies," said the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (PWNI-BHI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha through a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh obtained by ANTARA, Jakarta, Sunday, September 24.Judha said that currently the Indonesian Embassy has succeeded in communicating with the two Indonesian citizens, and based on the investigation, they have the initials LHF (male) and NS (female).They are in Bavet, Cambodia, since September 2022. They originally worked at online-based gambling companies. However, in April 2023 they moved to an online scam company.Related to this, Judha said that the Indonesian Embassy had coordinated with the Cambodian Police and an investigation was being carried out.
